Managing Successful Programmes, or MSP, is a framework used by organisations all over the world. It helps an organisation establish best practice to deliver transformational change, this is often in situations where there are large and complex structures to contend with.
MSP is a framework designed to ensure successful programme management within an organisation. The MSP course methodology was created from the collective expertise and experience of practitioners across a range of industries and sectors which makes it a comprehensive yet highly flexible approach. It has been adopted by many companies within both the public and private sectors. Our MSP training course is one of our most popular qualifications.
The MSP® framework is popular with programme managers and project teams and offers the following benefits to an organisation:
- Alignment with business goals
- A solid structure for achieving programme benefits
- A flexible change management framework
- Boost stakeholder engagement and participation
- Achieve changes on time and within budget
Today’s organisations exist in a climate of constant increasing change. Organisations that have learned how to transform themselves through effective leadership and strategic control are more likely to survive and prosper in today's climate. Programme management is increasingly being recognised as key to enabling organisations to manage that transformation, therefore gaining an MSP certification could be a great step forward for yourself and your company.
If you are looking to apply MSP principles to your work, you would first need to gain the MSP qualification. There are two main MSP qualifications, these are MSP Foundation and MSP Practitioner levels.
We offer a Foundation & Practitioner combined MSP qualification which is designed to equip you with all the core skills and knowledge you will need to work on Programme Management. Our qualified MSP trainers will guide you through the MSP training course syllabus and help you prepare for your exams. If you have opted for one of our MSP courses in the classroom you will cover Foundation and Practitioner levels and both exams in the 4.5 day course meaning you are fully qualified in less than a week!
The MSP® Programme Management Training Course will prepare delegates for the Foundation and Practitioner exams. You will learn about managing groups of projects using MSP® principles, processes and methodologies. You will also look in depth at the MSP® framework, based on the 3 core concepts, which are designed to be modified to meet the requirements of specific circumstances.
This qualification is most suited for:
- Aspiring Project Managers
- Existing Project Managers
- Programme Managers
- Operational Managers
- Quality Assurance
If you have signed up to the combined Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) training course you will cover all of this content over your 4.5 day course. Your exams will take place during this time on your classroom based course
The foundation level is taught during the first 2 days and includes an overview of MSP including MSP guidance, philosophy and terminology. It also covers an introduction of the principles, methods, processes and themes.
You will then sit your Foundation exam on the morning of the 3rd day of your course.
The trainer will then continue with the Practitioner part of the course which covers advanced MSP methods and case studies. You will then take your Practitioner exam on the morning of the 5th day.
Yes, we are a fully accredited training organisation. We are accredited with PeopleCert who are the examination body for MSP exams. Our MSP trainers are also fully accredited with PeopleCert.
In order to prepare for your upcoming exams during your MSP course you will be given set work to do in the evenings by your trainer. There is also an element of self-study involved so be prepared to do 2-3 hours each evening.
Both papers are multiple choice.
The Foundation is a 60 minute paper and the practitioner exam is 2.5 hours long.
The Foundation paper is a closed book exam and the Practitioner paper is an open book exam. The only permitted book in the Practitioner exam is the official Managing Successful Programmes Manual.
Both MSP examinations have a 60% pass rate. Therefore, you must get 36 out of a possible 60 marks in the Foundation exam and 42 marks out of a possible 70 marks in the Practitioner exam to pass.
